Talks take place on Thursday afternoons, starting at 2pm, and usually take place in the Lecture Hall, Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JA. These are free for Oxford u3a members but you are welcome to attend as a guest for a donation of £5 (£2 for members of all other U3As).
Most talks are recorded on Zoom for the benefit of those Oxford u3a members who are unable to attend Rewley House.

Dr Matthew Kerry – The Spanish Civil War as a Media War

Matthew Kerry is Associate Professor in Modern European History at the University of Oxford and Tutor at Jesus College. He is a social and cultural historian of modern Spain with a particular focus on collective action and political behaviour, and has published on a variety of topics, including boycotts, blasphemy, charivari, and radicalisation. His book Unite, Proletarian Brothers! Radicalism and Revolution in the Spanish Civil War, 1931-6 examined the origins, unfolding and repercussions of a two-week revolutionary revolt in the northern Spanish region of Asturias.
