Dr Joe Milnes – Introduction to Fusion
6th May 2027 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Joe Milnes joined the UK Atomic Energy Authority as a mechanical engineering graduate in 2000. During his career, he held a variety of engineering and management roles across the JET, MAST-U and ITER fusion research facilities, and he is currently UKAEA’s Executive Director for Engineering and Computing.
This talk will explain what fusion is, why we think it will be a critical part of the world’s energy mix in future, and highlight the challenges involved as well as the progress being made towards building the first fusion powerplants.
