Talks take place on Thursday afternoons, starting at 2pm, and usually take place in the Lecture Hall, Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JA. These are free for Oxford u3a members but you are welcome to attend as a guest for a donation of £5 (£2 for members of all other U3As).
Most talks are recorded on Zoom for the benefit of those Oxford u3a members who are unable to attend Rewley House.

Dr Lucy Harry – The Death Penalty: South East Asia

Lucy Harry received her doctorate in Criminology from Balliol College, Oxford. She is currently a post-doctoral researcher at the Death Penalty Research Unit at the Centre for Criminology, University of Oxford, studying the death penalty for drug offences in Indonesia
This talk will provide an overview of the state of the death penalty in Southeast Asian jurisdictions, where it is mainly retained for drug related offences. In particular, this talk will draw on the speaker’s research on foreign national women sentenced to death for drug trafficking in Malaysia.
