Talks take place on Thursday afternoons, starting at 2pm, and usually take place in the Lecture Hall, Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JA. These are free for Oxford u3a members but you are welcome to attend as a guest for a donation of £5 (£2 for members of all other U3As).
Most talks are recorded on Zoom for the benefit of those Oxford u3a members who are unable to attend Rewley House.

Dr Oscar Patton – Remember, Remember: Memorials of the Gunpowder Plot in Jacobean Britain

Dr Oscar Patton is a historian of religion, society, and culture in Early Modern Britain, and is currently a lecturer at Jesus College, Oxford. His doctoral thesis looked at the post-Reformation Chapel Royal, and he is currently developing this into a book. He has edited a volume of essays on music and ceremonial in royal, cathedral, and collegiate churches in sixteenth and seventeenth century England, which will be published with the British Academy and Liverpool University Press in the Spring of 2027. He has also published articles in British Art Studies, The Journal of Ecclesiastical History, and The Court Historian
