Greg Birdseye – Hospices, Their History with Special Reference to Sobell House
30th November 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Greg had a varied career (Manchester, London among others) and came back to Oxford a dozen years ago and now lives in Iffley. He is a Trustee of the Sobell House Hospice Charity and Chair of the Board’s Fundraising and Communications Committee.
The talk will start with the historic concept of hospice (‘end-of-life’) care and then move on to the development of the ‘modern’ hospice movement in the mid 1900s. This will include the founding and later development of Sobell House, Oxford’s local hospice on the Churchill Hospital site, and a description of Sobell today and the care available to those in need.
