Lizzy Rowe – The Artists of World War II

March 5 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Lizzy Rowe, is an Oxford graduate and resident. She completed her MA at the Courtauld Institute in 1999 and, after working at English Heritage, now gives talks and guided tours with art historical themes. She also teaches Art History in primary schools.

Focusing in particular on British artists and the art produced under the aegis of the War Artists’ Advisory Committee, this talk will look at the paintings of Edward Ardizzone, Eric Ravilious, Laura Knight and Henry Moore, among others. Their images tell us about the horrors of conflict but also about the moments of calm, camaraderie and beauty amid the horror
