Ray Foulk – Why and How Pablo Picasso Invented Modern Art
6th February 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Ray Foulk RIBA is co-author with Caroline Foulk of the historical novel, Picasso’s Revenge. He is a renowned curator and author on French Art Deco masters and twentieth century decorative art. Ray has also written on the 1960s counterculture and rock festivals. As an award winning environmental architect, he lives and works in Oxford, near his four grown up children and grandchildren.
This talk concerns Picasso’s most powerful secret – that which triggered the art career to eclipse all others. The mystery centres on one painting, Les Demoiselles d’Avignon. Its influence as a single painting is unparalleled in the entire history of art, yet street surveys show it remains largely unknown to the public despite there being a huge public interest in art.
