Talks take place on Thursday afternoons, starting at 2pm, and usually take place in the Lecture Hall, Rewley House, 1 Wellington Square, Oxford OX1 2JA. These are free for Oxford u3a members but you are welcome to attend as a guest for a donation of £5 (£2 for members of all other U3As).
Most talks are recorded on Zoom for the benefit of those Oxford u3a members who are unable to attend Rewley House.

Stephen Barker – Six Warrior Women of the English Civil Wars, 1642–51

Stephen Barker is an independent Heritage Advisor, who works with museums, universities and other heritage organisations to design exhibitions and make funding applications. He delivers presentations and tours related to the First World War and British Civil Wars. He is the author of Lancashire’s Forgotten Heroes and The Flying Sikh: Hardit Singh Malik. His talk is primarily about six women who took part in the fighting during the English Civil War, undertook spying missions and negotiated deals with politicians.
